Good evening all. Tomorrow marks my 3rd week in Dallas and I am continually adjusting. Since my time here I am gaining a healthy understanding of the power of networking. Though it my seem uncomfortable at first to out reach to people you don't know (even people you do), it is highly important to one's future success.

Another little something that was brought to my attention is the majority of residents in Dallas are transplants, meaning they weren't born and raised here; much like myself!

Other than submitting job applications (which can feel like a job within itself), I was able to find a new beautician, a new sushi spot and a fabulous cigar bar located at the American Airlines Arena. How fun will that be when the Mavs' game start?!

Enjoy your night and be safe!

Afternoon! Today is another day spent filling out job applications and submitting resumes. Prior to doing so I got a good workout in and did some much needed meditating. Reflected on the past and how I got to where I am now. Started to get excited and optimistic about the future!

Beginning to learn my way around the city and plan on heading to the library to get some reading material. The two books that I have my eye on are "Life After College" by Jenny Blake and "How to Live Like a Lady" by Sarah Tomczak. What are your summer reads?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good Morning (and afternoon for some). Getting a late start today due to an eventful week and weekend. Still unemployed (blah), today will be dedicated to filling out job applications and sending resumes to potential employers; fun right? My field that I am perusing is broadcasting, particularly sports reporting. Not the easiest to get into, especially in a huge market such as Dallas. Thus my communications background, which is broad, comes into play allowing me to apply for a plethora of positions. Fingers crossed!

I go hard on these applications so to keep the day fun I like start off with fitness. Nothing too fancy or rigorous; you'd be surprised what a fast paced walk could do. Incorporate a little ab work and some squats/lunges and you're good to go. Health is not only important for your body, but it has so much effect on the mind and the way it works. What do you do for your body and mind?

Have a great one (and be safe in the heat. Its gonna be 106 degrees here! sheesh)

Hello all! My name is Dalila and I'm happy to call Dallas my new home. A little background about me: I'm a St. Louis native who left the city for small town college living in both Kentucky and Tennessee. After recently graduating with my Master's (hooray) almost two months ago, I chose to take my talents to Dallas. Why Dallas? Well my fab sister just started a new life here and we haven't lived together since she went off to college.

Any who, today marks my first week in the D and I thought why not chronicle my journey?! I feel that this is a pivotal moment in any young person's, especially woman's, life. Finding a job, finding new friends and finding my way!

Stay tuned!
