Greetings All! It has been awhile since I've posted but I'm ready to give you the juice so here goes.

First and foremost, holy emotions! Relocating has been playing a major toll on me. One day I feel like I'm hot stuff because I have a Master's and am pursuing my career and the next I feel like "What in the heck am I doing here away from the people that I love?" Not all the people, though. My sister has been an amazing one man support system and I truly am appreciative of everything she does for me.

On to some professional news.

I been on a plethora of interviews. Most of them are for positions that technically aren't what I want to do forever, but a girls gotta eat! I locked in one job but I'm looking to here from Clear Channel Radio next week for a position that will help boost my career. (So keep your fingers crossed)

In the meantime, I recently accepted a blogging position with Her Game Life, in which I'll be blogging information about the St. Louis Rams. (I initially wanted the Cowboys since I'm in Dallas now, but they only had Rams availability). I'll let you know when I begin posting so make sure you check me out.

As for fun,

I've been to a few new restaurants in the past weeks. One was Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck. It was delish but if it weren't for happy hour I would've had to wash dishes. However, the restaurant is located in the Reunion Tower (the ball building in the skyline) and rotated 360 degrees; the view was amazing. I also went to a gourmet Mexican spot called Cantina Loredo which was also delicious and had spectacular service.

Another first was Studio Movie Grill, the theater I went to to see The Dark Knight Rises (amaze) at last night. This place allows you to eliminate the "Dinner before or after the movie?" question by providing a full service restaurant and staff in the actual theater. I kept it simple with chicken fingers and fries but they have an assortment of choices. I recommend the New Orleans Hurricane if you're looking to "relax".

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hello all! The holiday is over! Which means back to work for most. Fortunately (and finally) it means the same for me too. My temp position begins with an orientation tomorrow morning. I've been putting in an enormous amount of applications so I'm sure I'll get a permanent position shortly.

In the meantime I have been keeping my fitness up and trying new things; and my sister has been along for the ride. We went to I Fratelli, an Italian wine bar Saturday evening. Located in Irving, this restaurant quickly became one of my favs! The decor was chic and the food was reasonably priced which is always a plus. In addition, their bellinis are fabulous!

We concluded the evening with a trip to Blackfinn, a restaurant in Addison (love that area), to take advantage of the patio seating and have a few drinks to cap off the night.

I've recently done some research on the Internet and found an assortment of women's groups that meet up and do fun stuff together. This is totally out of my comfort zone, but why not? It sounds like a great way to meet new people and if it turns out to be a freak show I'll have a story to tell. I've also decided to take my fitness to another level and start doing marathons (5k only). The first one is called Heels and Hills and takes place in September!

I'm beginning to like it here!

Good afternoon and Happy Monday! Today is special because not only is it a new week, but a new month as well! Keeping a healthy mind, body and spirit are the essentials to happiness. Yesterday I started my month off with a great workout at a local track with my sister.

As for career, although I have locked in a temporary position, the job search continues. It's very important to keep my skills on point so I've begun writing pieces on recent sports events. Here's a link to previous work I've done:

I've also checked out an informative book titled "Make a Name for Yourself" by Robin Fisher Roffer which gives advice on personal branding strategies for women in the workplace.

Furthermore, I won't be in Dallas for the holiday but I am super excited that I will FINALLY be spending the 4th with family in Louisiana (it's been over a decade). What are your holiday plans?

Good evening all. Tomorrow marks my 3rd week in Dallas and I am continually adjusting. Since my time here I am gaining a healthy understanding of the power of networking. Though it my seem uncomfortable at first to out reach to people you don't know (even people you do), it is highly important to one's future success.

Another little something that was brought to my attention is the majority of residents in Dallas are transplants, meaning they weren't born and raised here; much like myself!

Other than submitting job applications (which can feel like a job within itself), I was able to find a new beautician, a new sushi spot and a fabulous cigar bar located at the American Airlines Arena. How fun will that be when the Mavs' game start?!

Enjoy your night and be safe!

Afternoon! Today is another day spent filling out job applications and submitting resumes. Prior to doing so I got a good workout in and did some much needed meditating. Reflected on the past and how I got to where I am now. Started to get excited and optimistic about the future!

Beginning to learn my way around the city and plan on heading to the library to get some reading material. The two books that I have my eye on are "Life After College" by Jenny Blake and "How to Live Like a Lady" by Sarah Tomczak. What are your summer reads?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good Morning (and afternoon for some). Getting a late start today due to an eventful week and weekend. Still unemployed (blah), today will be dedicated to filling out job applications and sending resumes to potential employers; fun right? My field that I am perusing is broadcasting, particularly sports reporting. Not the easiest to get into, especially in a huge market such as Dallas. Thus my communications background, which is broad, comes into play allowing me to apply for a plethora of positions. Fingers crossed!

I go hard on these applications so to keep the day fun I like start off with fitness. Nothing too fancy or rigorous; you'd be surprised what a fast paced walk could do. Incorporate a little ab work and some squats/lunges and you're good to go. Health is not only important for your body, but it has so much effect on the mind and the way it works. What do you do for your body and mind?

Have a great one (and be safe in the heat. Its gonna be 106 degrees here! sheesh)

Hello all! My name is Dalila and I'm happy to call Dallas my new home. A little background about me: I'm a St. Louis native who left the city for small town college living in both Kentucky and Tennessee. After recently graduating with my Master's (hooray) almost two months ago, I chose to take my talents to Dallas. Why Dallas? Well my fab sister just started a new life here and we haven't lived together since she went off to college.

Any who, today marks my first week in the D and I thought why not chronicle my journey?! I feel that this is a pivotal moment in any young person's, especially woman's, life. Finding a job, finding new friends and finding my way!

Stay tuned!
